The Frame Gallery is proud to present “The Many Muses of Nikki Smith”, our featured artist for June and July, 2014. From Euterpe (the muse of song), to Terpsichore (the muse of dance) to Urania (the muse of science), Nikki Smith’s artwork takes inspiration from her life and passions.

Join us for the opening reception on First Friday, June 6th at the Frame Gallery in downtown Bryan, Texas. Meet the artist, enjoy live music and great conversation, and of course, fabulous ART!

Smith’s artwork will be on display at The Frame Gallery through the end of June. Prints can be purchased in person at The Frame Gallery or through the artist’s online store at http://nikkimarie-smith.artistwebsites.com.

About the Artist:

Currently featured on the cover of Flair Magazine, local Bryan, TX artist Nikki Smith was awarded the prestigious International FAA “Tony” Award for Artistic Merit in 2013. Smith’s artwork and articles are published in numerous issues of Cloth Paper Scissors, PAGES, and Somerset Digital Studios magazines as well as an artist profile in The Houston Chronicle. A self-taught artist and lifelong learner, her artwork has traveled to collectors in over a dozen countries and across the USA.

“My artwork is inspired by music, color and the human body. I believe that music has such an incredible power to move us, to change our state of mind. My artwork seeks to capture this transformative power of music through color and motion, often combining musical instruments and the female form to tell a story. As my style continues to evolve, I am excited to see where this artistic journey will take me.”

Visit The Frame Gallery this First Friday, June 6th (and throughout the month of June) to see new artwork by award winning artist Nikki Smith.

Wylde Women Art Show, April 3rd-12th 2014

The first annual Wylde Women Art Show in downtown Bryan, Texas is going to be WILD this year! I’m excited to be a part of the show and will be unveiling a brand new digital watercolor portrait, as well as bringing one of my personal favorite pieces. Did I mention there will be live belly dancing at the opening reception? What a perfect compliment to the collection of evocative works of art celebrating the female figure! Plus, you can meet all of the artists Thursday, April 3rd from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, and again on First Friday, April 4th from 6pm to 9pm. It’s going to be wild and we’d love to have you join us!

First Annual Wylde Women Art Show

Theme: Celebration of the Female Figure

Where: Square One Gallery, Downtown Bryan (directions here)

When: April 3rd – 12th (see below for times)
Opening Reception: Thursday, April 3rd, 6:30 to 8:30pm (meet the artists; entertainment and music by Brazos Valley Bellydance Events)
First Friday: April 4th, 6-9pm (meet the artists)

Additional dates/times: Sat. April 5th from 10am to 7pm; and Thurs. to Sat., April 10th – 12th from noon to 7pm

Note: Given the theme of the show, invited artists were permitted to include nude and semi-nude artwork and as such children’s viewing is at at the discretion of their parents.

Nikki Smith transforms vintage patent drawings into modern art in this series which explores the arts of transportation and invention. Featuring Harley-Davidsons from the 1920’s, turn of the century horse patents, human-powered flight and more.

I’m please to announce that The Noble Swede Gallery in La Grange, Texas will be featuring artwork from my series “The Art of Invention” beginning November 1st, including several vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycles, inspired human-powered flight, vintage horse patents and more.

The opening reception is Friday, November 15th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm where you can meet the artist, enjoy refreshments and explore artwork that celebrates the inventive spirit of the American people.
